Creativity is pretty much the soul of advertising. It gives life to messages about products that may otherwise be boring to people. It connects people to brands and ideas. And with people running out of creative ideas, ad agencies are saviors when it comes to adding a dash of creativity to any message. But here’s the thing about creative freedom- while you are allowed to freely explore options without constrain, there is an invisible line of sensitivity that all artists are supposed to stand behind.
The internet having a serious ‘creative freedom’ debate thanks to a video posted by a Facebook page recently. The video in question here is posted with a simple caption- “Have you ever done this to your mother?” and shows multiple people spitting and relieve themselves on an old lady who just sits there as her smile fades. Sounds a bit extreme, right?
