Twitter users school Paytm founder Vijay Shekhar Sharma after he uses #MeToo to tell his ordeal with IndiGo

Vijay Shekhar Sharma used the #MeToo hashtag to share his ordeal with IndiGo staff members and Twitter users were quick to school him

Paytm founder Vijay Shekhar Sharma got on the wrong foot with social media users when he used the hashtag #MeToo to talk about his bitter experience with the crew of IndiGo airlines. While tweeting about his unpleasant experience with the IndiGo staff, Sharma accidentally used the hashtag meant for victims of sexual harassment. Shekhar is facing a lot of flak for using the wrong hashtag.

While everyone was fuming over the IndiGo incident, Vijay Shekhar Sharma’s tweet gave them another reason to be angry. Here is what the PayTm founder tweeted:

I have had my scary experience in an Indigo flight when a crew member was overtly hostile and not calming down even after requesting. #MeToo https://t.co/9w3B3bFDYc

This is NOT a hashtag to consolidate customer grievances for the love of God.#MeToo key aagey automatically emoji banaa hai, can you even SEE that? https://t.co/VT6Gw6FFf3

That hashtag is not for you to talk about a rude flight attendant, genius. That’s for victims of sexual harassment and assault. https://t.co/7aKAxEfEev

Fitting that Vijay Shekhar shows he’s even more of a tone deaf ignorant dumbass on 8th November of all dates.

The genius is actually enjoying anniversary to his fortune changing decision called Demonetization. #MeToo for him means he too was amongst the beneficiaries of demonetization.

What a trivialisation of the #metoo campaign. But sensitivity we know, is not your forte

— Suma (@sumatweet) November 8, 2017

That hashtag is for sexual abuse victims, VSS.

— Sandhya Ramesh (@sandygrains) November 8, 2017

Sir, dont mind but Me too hashtag is used on social media explicitly for sexual assault and harassment.

— Riya (@JokesDostiEtc) November 7, 2017

Don’t trivialize sexual abuse & misuse the #metoo hashtag.
