The German police on Tuesday said that the attacker who rammed into a crowd of people in Christmas market in Berlin was a 23-year-old Pakistan migrant.
Reports further suggest that the Pakistani national was used to stay at the Berlin airport and come to Germany last year. Germany’s Chancellor Merkel also said that market carnage was a ‘terrorist act’ and was committed by asylum seeker. The German police was still interrogating the alleged suspect.
At least 12 people are dead and as many as 48 have been injured after the truck ran into small stalls in the crowded Christmas market in Berlin.
The injured have been injured to the hospital. According to international media reports, the police are suspecting a possible terror angle just ahead of Christmas. The police have as also managed to nab the alleged accused. However, there is no particular information to the driver’s affiliation at the moment.
The incident took place on Monday evening around 7pm. Reports further suggest that the truck that mowed down a crowd of people on Breitscheidplatz Square, was stolen from a refugee. The original driver of the lorry was reportedly found dead.
