After the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) nations isolated Pakistan in the regional group by boycotting the 19th annual summit, Facebook went a step further and removed the official page of Pakistani party Jamaat-i-Islami for publishing provocative content about the Kashmir valley on its official page.
However, now reports state that the Facebook page has been restored.
Earlier, a statement from the party claimed that the page had over 3 million Facebook ‘likes’ and was the second most liked pages of any political party on the platform.
Social media head of the party, Shamsuddin Amjad confirmed the development while adding that two other pages operated by the party have also been removed from the social media site in the past two days, the Dawn reported.
“The party pages representing Jamaat’s zonal sections Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Women Wing were removed on Tuesday,” Amjad told the Dawn.
Facebook also suspended accounts of nearly 24 admins of the Jamaat’s official page.
