In next 20 years, number of babies born to Muslims will be higher, even surpassing Christians

Between 2010 and 2015 Muslims made up an estimated 31 per cent of all babies that were born around the world

In coming 20 years, babies born to Muslim mothers will outnumber those born to Christian mothers. This will happen because Christians have had and will have fairly high number of population in the advanced age group. On other hand, Muslim population is comparatively much younger and have higher fertility rate.

As per a report published by US research body Pew Research Center, it said, “By 2035 , the number of babies born to Muslims is expected to modestly exceed births to Christians”. The report published on April 5 said, “Globally, the relatively young population and high fertility rates of Muslims lead to a projection that between 2030 and 2035, more babies born will be born to Muslims (225 million) than to Christians (224 million), however the total population of Christians will be larger at that time.”

In a report published in Times of India, Pew in 2015 had said that Muslims are predicted as the fastest-growing religious group and there are already “visible” signs of it.

It said, “Between 2010 and 2015, births to Muslims made up an estimated 31% of all babies born around the world – far exceeding the Muslim share of people of all ages in 2015 (24%).”

In 2015, US research centre said that not only Muslims have the highest growing population in the world and by year 2050 the population of Muslims will be almost equal to the Christian population.

Earlier, in its other report the research body had said that by 2050, India will have the highest number of Muslim population in the world even outnumbering Indonesia, which currently has the largest Muslim population.
