The UK police in Southern England held a 47-year-old Sikh man and his son at gunpoint after someone allegedly raised an alarm about hearing a gunshot. However, the sound was that of a tyre bursting. The incident took place after the man identified as Sukhi Rayat parked his car in his yard when a number of cops accompanied by dogs rushed to his garden pushed him against the wall and handcuffed him.
“I’d been sitting in my car for a minute because I was calling the company I lease it from. As soon as I stepped out, police came out of nowhere with the dogs and rifles and everything,” the man was quoted as saying. The man further claimed that his 17-year-old son was also pushed against the wall and handcuffed by the police.

It is being reported that the police had to rush to the spot after someone happened to call them to complain about gunshots being heard from Rayat’s car. The Sikh man’s daughter identified as Manmeet Kaur lashed out at the police officials for refusing to cooperate with the family despite repeated requests. Manmeet alleged that the officers did not allow them to take their shoes off before entering the place where the religious items and texts were stationed.
“It was scary, but now I feel more anger than anything else, she stated. Defending the police officers, a Hertfordshire police spokesperson asserted the cops were only doing their job and had take cognisance of the complaint they had received adding that it was their responsibility to act on the information they had received considering it was a report involving firearms.
The police further claimed that they had received a complained from someone who stated that they had witnessed two men inside the car with possession of firearms.
The officers also went inside the property to ensure that none of the members were illegally possessing firearms. The spokesperson extended an apology for the inconvenience caused by the search asserting that they were only ensuring the safety of the public.
