It is no secret that Donald J Trump, the President of the United States of America has long wished to be named Time magazine’s ‘Person of the Year’.
In the runup to the declaration of this year’s announcement, on Friday, Trump tweeted out that he’d taken ‘a pass’ for the coveted title. He cited the pre-requisite of a ‘photo shoot’ and an interview as the reasons behind his refusal.
Time Magazine called to say that I was PROBABLY going to be named “Man (Person) of the Year,” like last year, but I would have to agree to an interview and a major photo shoot. I said probably is no good and took a pass. Thanks anyway!

Time was quick to respond however and declared that the President was ‘incorrect’ regarding the process used by the magazine in picking Person of the Year. The actual announcement will only take place by December 6.
The President is incorrect about how we choose Person of the Year. TIME does not comment on our choice until publication, which is December 6.

In June 2017, Time had categorically asked Trump organisation to take down fake covers displayed at five of Trump’s golf courses. The said covers had Trump on them with the epithet: Donald Trump: The ‘Apprentice’ is a television smash!
Sounds like President Trump found out he wasn’t Time’s Person of the Year so he created a false narrative that he was offered & declined the honor.

After winning US elections in November 2016, when he defeated Hillary Clinton despite popular vote being in her favour, Trump did eventually make it as last year’s PoY.
