Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated new US President Donald Trump for assuming office as the next American president.
Modi said in a series of tweets that he hoped to work together with Trump to deepen India-US “strategic partnership”.
Trump was earlier today sworn in as the 45th president of the America in a grand ceremony at the US Capitol in Washington DC. The swearing ceremony and the following parade is expected to be attended by nearly 900,000 people, according to news reports.
His swearing-in was followed by a short speech in which Trump laid out his “vision” for America.
