President of the United States, Donald Trump, faced a setback on January 10 after a federal appeals court denied to consider a temporary travel ban imposed on the people from seven Muslim-majority countries.
A panel of three judges of the 9th US Circuit Court of Appeals asserted that the Trump administration has failed to prove any national security threat from these 7 countries to support or justify the immediate imposition of the ban. The court only ruled whether or not to lift an emergency halt to Trump’s order put in place by a lower court while that case is ongoing. The judges said that this case needs more briefing from the sides.
A few moments after the court released a 29-page ruling, Donald Trump tweeted,”SEE YOU IN COURT, THE SECURITY OF OUR NATION IS AT STAKE!”

While the court is yet to reach a point where it could decide whether the order discriminated against a particular religion until the entire matter was fully briefed. However, the state has surfaced several pieces of evidence by the President in the favour of the matter.
Trumps administration accused the court of not having complete information about threats to the country which the President have. Countering the same, the judges said,”courts regularly receive classified information under seal.”
The three judges said the states had shown that even temporary reinstatement of the ban would cause harm. However, the court’s ruling does not resolve the lawsuit. It is just about whether president’s order should be suspended while litigation proceeds. On the other hand, the court also acknowledged the issue of national security and the free flow of travel but that the U.S. government hs failed to provide any evidence of national security concerns to support their claim of banning the seven countries.
On January 27, American President Donald Trump ordered a ban on entry for citizens from Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen for 90 days and imposed a 120-day halt on all refugees, except refugees from Syria who are barred indefinitely.
