Save your dates to celebrate the glory of Urdu with the third edition of Jashn-e-Rekhta

Spurred by the success of the previous editions, Jashn-e-Rekhta is back with its much-awaited third edition in New Delhi from February 17-19, 2017.

The third edition of Jashn-e-Rekhta, a unique festival to celebrate the timeless grandiloquence of Urdu will be held in New Delhi from February 17-19. The three-day festival at IGNCA will witness over hundred distinguished writers, poets, artists and singers from the Urdu fraternity, including celebrated lyricist Gulzar, Sarod maestro Ustad Amjad Ali Khan and acclaimed sufi singer Hans Raj Hans, who will bring alive Urdu’s radiant charm and rich heritage through mushaira, qawalli, dastangoi, ghazals, book exhibition, film screening, panel discussions, calligraphy workshops, Urdu bazaar and baitbaazi.

Other eminent personalities who will grace the event are Javed Siddiqui, Prasoon Joshi, Irfan Habib, Sharmila Tagore, MS Sathyu, Annu Kapoor, Wasim Barelvi, Ashok Chakradhar, Kumar Vishwas, Prem Chopra,  Saurabh Shukla, Justice TS Thakur, Nadira Babbar and Salman Khurshid among many others.

The festival is organised by the Rekhta foundation, that curates the largest online repository of Urdu poetry in the world on www.rekhta.org.

Urdu has created its basti wherever it has travelled, and the audience will find themselves conversing about the magical capabilities of the language to not only create its home in distant lands but also to offer itself as a home, as a refuge to myriad sensibilities.
